THE WAREZ SCENE
Magazine designed by me for Design and Future of Publishing in Fall 2024, taught by Nika Simovich Fisher.
I designed a magazine that examined the history of the Warez scene, an underground internet piracy subculture. The premise of the project was to reflect the history and “vernacular” of any subculture through my design and article selections. The design reflected back white space, as the communities I studied often relegate their blogs, magazines, and art to .txt files to protect their identities, forcing community members to create the visual aspects of their culture with text and borders made out of the font Menlo.
